Following three years of dedicated discussions led by Department Chair Professor Chiang You-Wang and Professor Johann Lueder, the Department’s academic exchange with Technische Universität Darmstadt (TUDa) has progressed from the signing of an MOU in 201121o a Double Master’s Degree / Dual Degree Agreement with TUDa. This summer vacation, short-termed abroad course, "OVERSEA STUDY ON INTRODUCTION TO ADVANCED MATERIALS"  was successfully offered and faculty members led 14 students to visit TUDa.

With the warm support and company of TUDa faculty members and local hosts, the delegation participated in campus tours, laboratory visits, and research exchanges. The group also visited several renowned academic and industrial institutions, including the University of Bayreuth, Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm (OHM), and the Merck Group. These visits enabled faculty and students to gain deeper insight into Germany’s higher-education system and research environment.

Cultural tours and exchange activities further introduced participants to German history, culture, and local characteristics, fostering cross-cultural understanding and international engagement. This overseas exchange not only broadened students’ international perspectives, but also strengthened the Department’s ties with its German partners in talent cultivation, research collaboration, and student exchange. It has laid a more solid foundation for the continued advancement of international education in the future.
